The top legal official in Texas Paxton is filing a lawsuit against the producers of Tylenol, asserting the corporations concealed safety concerns that the drug created to pediatric cognitive development.

The lawsuit arrives a month after President Donald Trump publicized an unproven link between taking acetaminophen - alternatively called acetaminophen - during pregnancy and autism in children.

Paxton is taking legal action against Johnson & Johnson, which formerly manufactured the drug, the only pain reliever recommended for expectant mothers, and the current manufacturer, which now manufacturers it.

In a official comment, he stated they "misled consumers by making money from pain and marketing drugs regardless of the potential hazards."

The company asserts there is insufficient reliable data tying acetaminophen to autism.

"These corporations deceived for years, knowingly endangering numerous people to increase profits," Paxton, from the Republican party, stated.

Kenvue commented that it was "deeply concerned by the perpetuation of misinformation on the reliability of acetaminophen and the potential impact that could have on the well-being of women and children in America."

On its online platform, Kenvue also said it had "continuously evaluated the pertinent research and there is no credible data that demonstrates a proven link between consuming paracetamol and autism."

Associations representing medical professionals and healthcare providers agree.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has stated acetaminophen - the key substance in Tylenol - is among limited choices for pregnant women to manage discomfort and fever, which can create significant medical dangers if not addressed.

"In multiple decades of research on the consumption of acetaminophen in pregnancy, not a single reputable study has successfully concluded that the usage of paracetamol in any trimester of pregnancy results in neurodevelopmental disorders in children," the group commented.

The lawsuit references latest statements from the previous government in claiming the medication is reportedly hazardous.

Last month, the former president caused concern from health experts when he told expectant mothers to "resist strongly" not to use Tylenol when unwell.

The US Food and Drug Administration then published an announcement that medical professionals should consider limiting the consumption of acetaminophen, while also mentioning that "a causal relationship" between the drug and autism in young ones has remains unverified.

Health Secretary RFK Jr, who manages the FDA, had promised in spring to undertake "comprehensive study program" that would establish the origin of autism in a limited time.

But authorities advised that identifying a unique factor of autism - believed by scientists to be the outcome of a complicated interplay of inherited and environmental factors - would be difficult.

Autism is a form of lifelong neurodivergence and impairment that impacts how individuals experience and relate to the surroundings, and is diagnosed using doctors' observations.

In his court filing, the attorney general - a Trump ally who is seeking the Senate - asserts the manufacturer and J&J "willfully ignored and sought to suppress the science" around acetaminophen and autism.

This legal action seeks to make the corporations "remove any marketing or advertising" that claims Tylenol is safe for women during pregnancy.

The Texas lawsuit mirrors the complaints of a assembly of mothers and fathers of young ones with autism and ADHD who sued the makers of acetaminophen in 2022.

A federal judge rejected the lawsuit, declaring research from the plaintiffs' authorities was lacking definitive proof.
