World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season. The twenty-seven-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph. A Year of High Performance Across the season, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final. The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year. In July, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago. Record-Breaking Numbers Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in earnings. She earned nearly 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media. Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a higher level". Other WTA Award Recipients Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking 13-month break after the birth of her first child and returning to the sport earlier this season. Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot. Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after winning their second Grand Slam title as a pair. Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five championship matches. Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
