JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution is not entirely an original feature. Instead, the recent film from the JuJutsu Kaisen supernatural series is a compilation of the series' second installment stitched together with the opening installments of its third season, which begins the Culling Games narrative from the source material. This establishes Execution, which recently received a new trailer, the earliest way to watch the beginning of the next season ahead of its January 2026 premiere. The film debuts in Japanese theaters on November 7, and in North America on Dec. 5.

The Culling Games Arc

In the Culling Game arc, Top-tier jujutsu user Yuta Okkotsu finally joins the anime series and is assigned by sorcery authorities to take down his peer Yuji Itadori. Their much-anticipated fight unfolds for the very first time on the silver screen, and if the artists at the studio have something as special as episodes 40 and 41 waiting in the wings for audiences this festive season, JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution may end up being the gift that fans have anticipated.

The Thunderclap Issue

"Thunderclap" from the second season is frequently praised as one of the greatest sequences in animated series lore, in spite of the significant debate in the previous year when the series first premiered. It was claimed that the animation team were facing harsh deadlines to the point, and the released version that premiered at the time was unfinished and supposedly not what the team originally planned.

The Legendary Fight

The episode showcases a heavily anticipated fight between two powerful sorcerers, the King of Curses and the Eight-Handled Sword. It boasts innovative art style, masterful camera work, and dynamic fight choreography. A subsequent physical media version provided an opportunity to add additional scenes to enhance the battle. So it was plausible Execution could improve the battle even more. However, examining the recent teaser, it's unclear if that fight has received any additional treatment. It'd be a shame if it hadn't, because a moment so epic has to be experienced on the biggest screen with the best presentation possible.

Season Two's Achievement

The second season of JuJutsu Kaisen propelled the series to become the award-winning series of 2024, and when the two-part finale were premiered one after another, it was the focus of attention for weeks in the series' fanbase. Fans were aware of the production challenges, which made them appreciate what they viewed even more. People clamored to see if the disc version, made available on March 18, would add any additional scenes to the sequence or to see if it was refined somewhat, and were thrilled to see precisely that, alongside color corrections, more motion, and altered color palette.

The Movie's Opportunity

But the Blu-ray can only touch up what has already been presented in the broadcast edition, whereas the film has the opportunity to do the sequence justice with more adjustments and new animations entirely.

A Magnum Opus

As it stands, these episodes serve as the pinnacle of JuJutsu Kaisen, and should be treated as such by Mappa, particularly given the debate they faced at the time. It's drawn the focus of viewers all over the world, and the Culling Games arc is a much-expected plotline of the coming year. If Mappa wants to start the year off right, revisit the anime's greatest sequence once again in cinemas with the finest version we've witnessed to date.
