British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community shared condolences for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
